In Bodega Dreams by Ernesto Quiones there are many conflicts. These conflicts go throughout the whole book affecting each character individually and affecting the plot. Chino goes through a "Man vs Self Conflict". He constantly goes through problems where he doesn't know if he should be for the street or his family.

Chino wants to have a good family. He wants to go to college and build a future for himself. He also wants Blanca to be very proud of him and happy with him. In the beginning of the book Chino tries to stay as far away from Sapo and Bodega as much as he can.He didn't want to be involved in the street life. He decides to help Bodega out but he kept his family at thought first. He asks to give him an apartment in exchange for his help.
No matter how hard Chino tries to stay out of problems he always stays involved with the streets. Chino ran all these errands for him and even went to the Botanica just so Bodega was good. When Fichman set Chino's Building Chino had got very furious. It wasn't about helping Bodega anymore,it was about getting payback on Fichman for causing a threat to his family
As you Can see Chino has to go through a Man vs Self Conflict in Bodega Dreams. There is times when both problems collide. When Blanca knew about Chino helping Bodega she got sad and left him leaving chino very depressed. Chino then realized the mistakes he committed.

I walk in the door to fin d Blanca waiting for me on the couch. She looks at me with a glare as if she knew i was up to something. She had her arms crossed. I approached her and asked her " What's wrong baby?".She gives me the look where she raises one eyebrow. She says "Baby?Baby? Don't baby me. I thought you weren't going to hide stuff from me. I told you to tell me everything. We have argued about this stuff before. I don't like you doing stuff behind my back Chino . I want to be involved in everything you do. That's what our relationship should be about". Blanca's angry look started to become a look of disappointment. I saw her bury her face into her hands, I was very confused and couldn't think of what had got her so upset. While she was talking i thought "why is she bitching about the same thing. I grabbed her,looked her dead in the eyes and asked "what the hell are you talking about?Is this about getting the apartment again?" She replied "NO. I told you I'm okay with that". I couldn't think of what could be bothering her. Then it hit me. She's probably talking about Bodega. I got nervous and stuttered out "So what is it then?". She looks at me and says "Since when do you talk to Negra like that?What's this favor that she's talking about??" I froze completely . I didn't know what to tell her. I couldn't tell her the truth cus' then Blanca would kill me. Then she asks "Huh??Why don't you answer me?What is it that you been talking to her about?Contestame Chino" Then i quickly thought of something good and say "Blanca,baby,I wanted this to be a surprise for you" She looked confused and gave me the face in which she only raises one of her eyebrows. She asked "Surprise?Chino what are you talking about?". I've responded saying "I've been talking to Negra cus' I've been trying to find a guy for that girl from your church. The one that needs her green card . I wanted you to be happy and relieved of stress so I've been looking everywhere". Her face turns into a smile and she throws herself into my arm and she says"I'm sorry,I love you". I smirked feeling accomplished.

1 piece of work i am proud of is my B.B king essay because i analyzed the story well and used my notes correctly.I described how B.B King's life went and how he had got involved in jazz. The things i could have improved on was my notes and outline. I know if those two things were better than my whole essay would have been way better
1 piece of work I'm not proud of is my piece where i compare "Ysrael" and "No face". I really messed up and didn't fulfill the assignment requirements. I didn't explain a rite of passage and didn't really compare and contrast the two stories. I also didn't didn't use the text as evidence. The only thing i did was summarize both stories. I should have payed more attention n follow the exact directions
This year has been a truly a rite of passage for me. A rite of passage is when you go through a certain situation that makes you grow as a person. At the beginning of the year i came knowing not too much about college. I also was not good at making a good essay. This year has showed me how to understand a story well. I've learned how to analyze a plot and a theme. I've also learned how an author can express certain lessons through a story. This is a rite of passage because I've gained knowledge and experience that i can use later on in life and in college.
